CARRIER OILS
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil, technically a liquid wax, is derived from the nut of the simmondsia chinensis botanical. A plant that is native to the southwestern parts of the United States as well as Northern Mexico. These amazing little nuts have been used by the indigenous people of these regions for centuries to treat skin ailments such as sores, cuts, bruises, burns and even as hair care. Jojoba oil is fast absorbing and closely resembles the sebum (an oily substance produced by our body's sebaceous glands) of human skin, thus making it ideal for balancing the skins natural oil production. Having anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties, jojoba oil is effective in eliminating blemishes and preventing breakouts in acne-prone skin.
Grapeseed Oil
Grapeseed oil is pressed from the seeds of grapes that have been juiced for food or wine. High in vitamin E and antioxidant rich, this oil helps to strengthen the skins collagen and maintain elasticity. Being that this oil is also high in the omega-6 essential fatty acid linoleic acid, it is able to penetrate through the different layers of the skin. Grapeseed oil also has astringent properties, making it ideal for tightening and toning the skin.
Avocado Oil
Avocado oil is pressed from the soft flesh of the fruit. It contains a generous amount of vitamins A,B, and E, proteins and amino acids supporting the health of the stratum corneum ( the outermost layer of the skin). It is fast absorbing and much less greasy than other oils. It is highly effective in soothing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, age spots and blemishes all while tightening and toning the skin. It is also very beneficial when used in treating rashes, psoriasis, eczema, severe dryness, and signs of aging.
Apricot Oil
Apricot oil is high in linoleic acid meaning it absorbs quickly and deeply while supporting the protective barriers of the skin. Ideally used for mature skin, apricot oil has wonderful emollient, nourishing, anti-inflammatory and revitalizing properties. While it has yet to be scientifically proven, some research suggests that due to apricot kernels containing the highest concentration of nirtilosides of any plant in the world, it is promoted as having cancer preventative compounds.
Sweet Almond Oil
Pressed from the common nut, this oil rates highly in its ability to retain moisture and prevent water loss in the skin. Sweet almond oil has been widely used for burns, dry and chapped skin, dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis. It is a non-greasy, anti-bacterial oil that absorbs quickly making it ideal for facial care, sensitive skin, or acne-prone skin as well as for massage. When used in under eye products, it is proven to significantly reduce the appearance of dark circles. It can also be applied to sunburned skin, helping to sooth redness and inflammation. Since sweet almond oil is light weight and rich in oleic acid, linoleic acid and stearic acid, it is able to penetrate deeply while promoting a soft, supple texture.
Borage Seed Oil
Borage seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the borage or starflower plant which originates from the Mediterranean region. It's well known for its ability to relieve pain and inflammation as well as being the highest in GLA (gamma-linolenic acid). This particular acid supports whole-body wellness, skin health and promotes hair growth. It is widely used in the treatment of acne, psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, skin and hair texture, arthritis, fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, collagen production, water retention in the skin, etc. The list goes on and on .
Castor Oil
Used all over the world for well over 4000 years, castor oil has been referred to as "The Hand Of Christ" due to its tremendous healing abilities. This oil is particularly high in ricinoeic acid making it ideal for a multitude of things such as: boosting elasticity, hair growth, circulation, stimulating collagen production, reducing fine lines, wrinkles, scars, blemishes, dark spots, uneven skin tones, inflammation, and over all bodily circulation.
Because it also has anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties, this oil can be used to help treat wounds, cuts, scrapes, warts, skin tags, moles, muscles, ringworm, eczema, psoriasis, and athletes foot.
Coconut Oil
Dating back 4000 years, the healing properties of coconut oil have all had positive results for both the hair and skin.
There are two different variations of this oil. Virgin coconut oil is made from pressing the fresh meat of the fruit while pressing the dried meat produces refined oil. Both the virgin and the refined are equally as beneficial. The difference is that the virgin has more of a tropical coconut scent while the refined is much more neutral.
One of the more commonly known benefits of coconut oil is that it is extremely moisturizing. But, it also harbors many other amazing benefits such as the ability to destroy viruses and harmful bacteria. When used on the skin, it helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, brightens dark spots, improves the appearance of stretch, diminishes spider veins and smoopths cellulite.
Hemp Seed Oil
Hemp is one of the oldest cultivated plants but in more recent years it has become increasingly popular for its many beneficial properties. This particular oil has proven to be effective against atopic dermatitis as well as other difficult skin conditions. Often referred to as natures most perfectly balanced oil, hemp seed can be used to sooth and heal dry cracked skin, repair minor burns, protect against cellular damage and replenish moisture.
Olive Oil Polyphenal Rich
Another oil that dates back thousands of years, olive oil has been highly regarded for its many wonderful properties. As far as olive oil for the skin, it contains oleic acid which helps to support the natural production of sebum. It allows the skin to breathe while attracting moisture and aiding in the repair of dry or sun-damaged tissue.
Polyphenols are compounds found in plant-based products. Packed with antioxidants, these reducing agents aid in protecting bodily tissue from oxidative stress, cancers and inflammation.
Safflower Oil
Safflower oil is derived from a thistle-like flower closely related to the daisy family. As a humectant, this oil helps the skin to retain water. Thus, softening the texture and tone, adding a radiant glow. It is also non-comedogenic meaning it will not clog the pores. Safflower oil is great for acne pron skin types as well as dull, dry, textured skin.
Tamanu Oil
Tamanu oil is pressed from the nuts of large tropical evergreen tree found in the Pacific Basin. This oil is extremely beneficial for the skin. Referred to as "green gold" it is thick and has a distinctive nutty scent. But aside from its high viscosity and strong aroma, tamanu oil absorbs deeply into the layers of the skin, rapidly regenerating new skin cells, repairing nerves, and diminishing scars. It is also useful in treating rheumatism, shingles, sciatica, eczema, psoriasis, dry chapped skin, burns, fissures, and infections. To add to its glory, this oil is anti-inflammatory as well as anti-bacterial.
